Space42 signs 17-yr, $5.1-billion satcom capacity contract with UAE, prepares launch of L-band mobile Thuraya 4

LA PLATA, Maryland — Space42, the company resulting from the merger of fixed and mobile satellite fleet operator Yahsat and AI-enabled geospatial analytics provider Bayanat, has signed its expected 17-year telecom capacity contract with the UAE government.

The contract, valued at 18.7 billion AED Dirhams ($5.1 billion), is to provide secure communications capacity and managed services from the Al Yah telecommunications satellites between 2026 and 2043.

Space42 earllier this year ordered the Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5 . . .
