EU governments, in mid-term review of 7-year space program, say it should be more fully integrated into EU defense effort

LA PLATA, Maryland — European governments accepted a largely positive mid-term review of the EU Space Program and stressed that it needs to make full use of the synergies between an ostensibly civil investment and Europe’s military needs.

Meeting Nov. 29 in Brussels as part of the EU Council on Competition, EU governments also adopted adopted proposals on reinforcing Europe’s competitiveness in space.

They specifically said Europe must not relive its temporary lack of independent space access that occurred between 2022 and 2024 . . .
