New EU Defense and Space Commissioner Andrius Kibilius on Iris2 constellation, EU Space Law, and small launchers

BANGKOK— The incoming European Commissioner for defense and space policy endorsed the proposed 300-satellite, multi-orbit Iris2 secure communications network, now in final negotiations with an industrial consortium, and said the EU Space Law would be published sometime in the first half of 2025.

Andrius Kibilius, a former prime minister of Lithuania, is an unknown in Europe’s space sector, although his views strongly backing military aid to Ukraine have been publicized.
