MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Three merchant suppliers of satellite laser communications terminals — CACI, General Atomics and Tesat — said they do not see Starlink’s well-proven Plug and Plaser terminal, now on the market, as a competitor given that it’s tailored for the Starlink constellation.
They also said that despite the projected near-term growth in the market for space-based lasers, mainly for inter-satellite links, they did not give much credence to the idea that multiple new providers would enter the market.
