LA PLATA, Maryland — German small-launcher startup Isar Aerospace’s $69.8-million Series C financing extension is an early signal of whether Europe’s space-launch funding ecosystem would seize up following a massive French government investment in startup MaiaSpace.
This had been the fear expressed by German, British, Spanish and Swedish government and industry officials, who worried that the estimated 300 million euros in France 2030 funds invested in MaiaSpace would send a signal that the small-launcher competition in Europe was over.
