MDA Space selects Tesat to build 792 lasercom terminals for Telesat’s Lightspeed broadband constellation

SINGAPORE — MDA Space of Canada has selected Germany’s Tesat to provide  792 laser communications terminals (LCTs) for Telesat’s 198-satellite Lightspeed broadband constellation, which MDA is building.

Announced May 28, it is the first large-volume commercial award for LCTs and a justification for Tesat’s decision to expand its production capacity in Backnang, Germany, to handle orders of up to 2,000 units per year.

Tesat is supply LCTs to Kepler Communications Inc. of Canada but so far . . .
