SDA’s latest missile warning/tracking satellite contract – 54 satellites from three contractors – again includes new supplier

PARIS β€” The U.S. Space Development Agency (SDA), which is fielding a sophisticated constellation of missile warning and tracking satellites, again demonstrated that it’s more interested in testing new technology and diversifying its suppler base than favoring scale economies.

SDA on Jan. 16 announced the award of contracts totaling $2.55 billion for satellites from established SDA suppliers L3 Harris Technologies and Lockheed Martin/Terran Orbital and a new entrant Sierra Space.

Each of them will build 18 satellites β€” 16 . . .
