PARIS — The Italian Ministry of Defense has submitted a notice to international regulators of a low- and medium-Earth-orbit constellation of 19,708 satellites in 899 orbital planes carrying S-, X-, and military-Ka brand frequencies.
The network, ITA-LEO, appears to be part of Italy’s effort to position itself for future investments in the European Commission’s GovSatCom program for secure communications and space surveillance.
